Miracles of Famous Prophets
Miracles of Famous Prophets
Miracles have secured a prestigious place in the history of religion in particular and cultures in general. Allah Almighty blessed His prophets with different miracles in order to confirm the validity of their Prophethood. It is important to notice that the prophets never showed the miracle without any purpose and under some unavoidable conditions. These are exceptions and Allah Almighty used His powers to enable the prophets to demonstrate Allah’s power and dominance. The prophets never demonstrated these miracles for the purpose of pleasure or entertainment. Keep in mind that the blessed Prophets (peace be upon them all) always focused on the practicality of life both in this world and the world hereafter.
Miracles of Famous Prophets
Hazrat Dawood (Alaih Salam) was blessed with high profile wisdom and knowledge of the unknown alongside extraordinary bravery and valor. The mountains and the birds used to say praises to Allah Almighty with Hazrat Dawood’s (Alaih Salam) will by the grace of Almighty Allah i.e., Hazrat Dawood (Alaih Salam) could communicate with the birds and the mountains. He (Alaih Salam) was given the astounding miracle of softening the iron like that of mud or wax with which He (Alaih Salam) used to mark armors to earn his livelihood.
“We bestowed Grace aforetime on Dawood from ourselves: “O ye Mountains! Sing ye back the Praises of Allah with him! And ye birds (also)! And We made the iron soft for him; (Commanding), “Make thou coast of mail, balancing well the rings of chain armor, and work ye righteousness; for be sure I see (clearly) all that ye do.” (Surah Saba, 34:10-11)
Hazrat Moosa (Alaih Salam) is considered to be among the most influential prophets during His age. He had a special quality to be able to speak to Allah on the Koh-eToor and was therefore honored being KaleemUllah. Moreover, Allah Almighty enabled Hazrat Moosa (Alaih Salam) to show the great miracle in the court of Pharaoh in order to exhibit the supremacy of Allah Almighty. The magicians, upon seeing the great miracle where Hazrat Moosa (Alaih Salam)’s staff turned upside down the magicians’ trick. Thereupon, the magicians remained dumbfounded and instantly believed in the Oneness of Allah and Hazrat Moosa (Alaih Salam) being the true prophet.
“They said: “O Moosa! whether wilt thou that thou throw (first) or that we be the first to throw?” He said, “Nay, throw ye first!” Then behold their ropes and their rods-so it seemed to him on account of their magic – began to be in lively motion! So Moosa conceived in his mind a (sort of) fear. We said: “Fear not! for thou hast indeed the upper hand: “Throw that which is in thy right hand: Quickly will it swallow up that which they have faked what they have faked is but a magician’s trick: and the magician thrives not, (no matter) where he goes.” So the magicians were thrown down to prostration: they said, “We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moosa.” (Surah Taha, 20: 65-70)
Hazrat Yunus (Alaih Salam) survived in the body of a huge fish (may be a whale) for a number of days. The exact number of days is debated by the scholars but there is no doubt that this is one of the most important miracle regarded by the followers of all divine religions.
Hazrat Ibrahim (Alaih Salam) was thrown into the fire and by the grace of Allah Almighty, the fire turned cold and served as if a garden of rose. Moreover, Hazrat Ibrahim (Alaih Salam) was blessed with the baby boy at quite an old age who was named Ismail (Alaih Salam). Again, when Hazrat Ismail (Alaih Salam) was to be sacrificed, Allah replaced him with a calf and Hazrat Ismail (Alaih Salam) remained safe and passed the most difficult trial.
Hazrat Isa (Alaih Salam) was blessed with a great quality of healing the sufferers of leprosy and to give sight to the blind by Allah’s will. Moreover, he was able to raise the dead. Such an extraordinary miracle helped his followers to testify Him (Aliah Salam) as a true prophet.
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) never demonstrated any miracle unless it was necessary and there was no other option. The Mairaaj is the mightiest of all the miracles. This is something phenomenal that Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) visited the heavens and the secrets of Allah’s majesty were revealed to him. The Holy Quran is itself a great miracle as its composition, verse, personification and other literary tools are exceptional.
“And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Surah like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (If there are any) besides Allah, if your (doubts) are true. But if ye cannot- and of a surety ye cannot- then fear the Fire whose fuel is men and stones, – which is prepared for those who reject Faith.” (Surah Al Baqara, 02:23-24)
Miracles, provide a way to strengthen believe in the oneness of Allah. We should not refer to these miracle for the sake of entertainment. It is important to understand the context of these miracles and then explore the true message behind these miracles.
